The Reasons You Need to Apply for Reconsideration

There could be multiple reasons that lead to your application rejection and now you are thinking of requesting reconsideration. Some of the main reasons can be:

  • Incomplete or Inaccurate Application: You provided incomplete or inaccurate information in your initial application. It could be due to the fact that you did not have a clear idea of how to fill up the complete application or you made any mistake in providing information.
  • Insufficient Evidence & Supporting Documents: You did not provide enough evidence and supporting documents in your initial application. Now you have more strong evidence and document proof that can make you eligible for the grant.
  • SASSA Administrative Error: There could be a mistake from SASSA’s side as well. The person doing data entry made a mistake in putting your information into the system, or the SASSA’s system showed inaccurate information, which made you ineligible for the grant.
  • Changes in Circumstances: Your circumstances have changed from the time you applied for the SASSA grant. You could have been unable to pass the eligibility criteria at that time, but now your circumstances have changed more or worse, and you are completely eligible according to SASSA’s eligibility criteria.
  • Medical Condition or Disability: You have a medical or disability problem, but you did not mention it in your first application. Now, you want to add these reports as well to make your case stronger for eligibility.

These are the most common reasons, of course there could be other reasons as well.

What are the Requirements To Apply For Reconsideration Application

There is an eligibility criteria which must be fulfilled before applying for SASSA Reconsideration:

  • You must have applied for the COVID-19 grant through an electronic platform; if you haven’t applied before, then your reconsideration request is of no use.

  • You must disagree with the SASSA decision and believe that you are eligible for the grant.

Apart from that, you should provide the additional information or documents to support your claim and proof that you are eligible for the grant.

What Documents Are Required For Reconsideration Appeal

The specific documents required for a reconsideration appeal may vary depending on the details of your initial application and the reason for the rejection of your grant. Some essential documents that are required include:

  • Your initial SASSA application form along with all supporting documents that were submitted with your original application.
  • A copy of your grant rejection letter from SASSA.
  • A detailed letter explaining your reasons for requesting reconsideration and why you believe you are eligible for the grant.
