What you need to know about NUmail
Your student email address is your email address provided by the University of Newcastle (UON). UON will use this email address to communicate with you and provide you with information about your studies and student experience.
Current Students should be accessing your NUmail via myUON, while Past Students can access NUmail at Microsoft Office 365. Past students can still access their student email via myUON or Microsoft Office 365.
There are two different formats of this email address; your [email protected] and [email protected]. They both go to the same inbox. However, make sure you use the correct format in the correct instances.
How to access your NUmail account
If you are a current student of the University, you will have access to all our online systems, including NUmail, through the student portal myUON.
To access your NUmail account through myUON, click on the NUmail light blue icon/tile.
To log in to your student email address, you will need to use [email protected] (e.g., [email protected]) and your password, which is the same as all UON computer systems.
When providing your student email address to others so they can email you, you can provide them with your [email protected] (e.g., [email protected]) or [email protected] (e.g., [email protected]). Providing either of these email addresses will be sufficient as both email addresses go to the same inbox.
How to reset your forgotten password
If you can’t remember your password and want to reset it, you can do so anytime, anywhere by using the Reset Forgotten Password utility for Students.
- Open the Reset Forgotten Password utility for Students
- Enter your Username and click Next.
- Enter the security code sent to your Home Email address and click Next.
- Enter a new password, re-enter your new password to confirm, and click Next.
Note that, to use the Reset Forgotten Password utility, you need to have a HOME email address registered on your student record in myHub. The HOME email address registered in myHub needs to be something other than your UON student email address, E.g., use a Hotmail or Gmail address.
If you do not have a HOME email address listed, you must contact the IT Service Desk to reset your password.
How to resolve locked passwords
If you enter your password incorrectly three times in a row, your account will be locked for five minutes. After five minutes, you can then try again, or contact the IT Service Desk on 02 4921 7000, who will reset your password for you. Remember your password is case sensitive, so check that the CAPS lock is off.
