YearBeyond Scouting in Schools Programme 2023. The Scouting-in-Schools After School programme is designed to promote an appreciation for nature and the environement, equip learners with life skills and to encourage active citizenship. Each term learners work on one badge in a challenge badge programme after which they transition into the community scouting programme.
What do YeBoneers do in the Scouting in Schools Programme?
As a YeBoneer you will receive the adult leader training to help you run the After School Programme with confidence. This includes Scouting, outdoor survival, leadership and project management skills training. You will learn how to implement the ‘learn by doing’ method. You will offer the programme to grade 4 – 6 learners, giving them an opportunity to join the scouting movement.
While most activities will happen at school, the programme also includes fun days, camps and hikes where you would meet other adult leaders, Rovers, Scouts and Cubs from around the Western Cape.
The skills you will acquire and develop throughout the year will help you to map out and plan your future. Many Scout Intern Leaders (YeBoneers) have gone on to find jobs or have chosen to further their education based on their experiences.
