Therefore, all those who want to study at UJ for 2024 must apply online for admission before the application closing date or deadline. The University of Johannesburg (UJ) may not accept any late applications for 2024 so make sure you apply on time.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a South African state university in Johannesburg. UJ was formed on January 1, 2005, when the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), the Technikon Witwatersrand (TWR), and the Vista University Soweto and East Rand campuses merged.

The former Vista University’s Daveyton and Soweto campuses were merged into RAU prior to the merger. It is typical for alumni to refer to the university as RAU as a result of the merging of Rand Afrikaans University (RAU).

How to Apply online at UJ Application Form 2025

  3. Select your qualification level

  5. Complete and submit your application for review

UJ Admission Requirements 2025

  1. Proof of payment receipt of your application fee (This is a non-refundable compulsory fee for every applicant)
  2. A Certified copy of your ID document(ID document is compulsory for South African citizens – your application cannot be processed without a certified copy of your ID and Passport Number for International Applicants)
  3. Exam Results: Final Grade 12 results (if available). Grade 11 results (if you currently doing grade 12) are very important for your application. Thus, have it on hand.
  4. A unique email address when applying either online or in a hard copy.

Applicants who are attending or have attended a University within or outside the Republic of South Africa, must submit an academic transcript that covers the period of study, especially if they intend on being granted exemption from modules or courses at University.

Degree seeking students

In order to study for a South African degree applicants are required to have achieved a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. All International applicants with high school qualifications achieved outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate studies. The following supporting documents must be submitted to the Matriculation Board on the address provided below;

  • Form M30 (this form can be downloaded on the Matriculation Board website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
  • Correctly certified copies of the applicants educational qualifications certified by a South African High Commission,
  • Consulate, Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
  • A correctly certified copy of your passport or birth certificate certified by a South African High Commission, Consulate,
  • Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
  • Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
  • Exemption fee as determined by the Matriculation Board (see website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
  • Submit proof of payment for the Exemption fee of R700 payable to the banking details below
